Rimu floors are also a popular option. Rimu was used throughout the 20th century as flooring, but more commonly to build stairs, skirtings, architraves and panelling. The heart timber contains reddish browns and yellows and the sapwood lighter browns and mustard colours. Boards with the heart and sapwood together are referred to as Colour or mixed grade Rimu. Rimu is not as dense as Matai but still performs well as a floor and gains real character with age.

We have good supplies of recycled Rimu and can readily source new Rimu timber if needed for a flooring or panelling project.
