Rubio Monocoat
Despite all the changes around us, wood is here to stay! At Rubio Monocoat NZ we are passionate about wood, just like you. Rubio Monocoat products have gained the trust of many wood professionals, architects, manufacturers and wood lovers all around the world.
The Rubio Monocoat products are manufactured in Belgium and we distribute them across New Zealand and the Pacific.
Our involvement started in 2015 when we started using them via our associated company James Henry Ltd. We wanted to move away from traditional solvent-based coating products. We trialed Rubio Monocoat 2C for finishing wooden floors. Six years later 80% of the floor finishing undertaken by our three sanding and finishing crews is completed using Rubio Monocoat.
We are enthusiastic about protecting our planet for future generations. Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus is based on natural vegetable products with zero VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). It does not affect your indoor air quality. That means you get a non-toxic environmentally-friendly floor finish.

Evolution Hardwax
Developed in Germany using state-of-the-art technology, Evolution Hardwax Oil is the latest hardwax oil available on the market. It is micro-porous (meaning it allows the timber to breath by integrating with it rather than creating a skin – which prevents cracking) and moisture-regulating. The oil is made from natural, sustainable raw materials (such as beeswax, carnauba wax and jojoba oil) and is non-toxic (food and toy safe). It can be applied with or without the special 2K Booster which is usually only added for extra durability in high-traffic areas (i.e., busy shops and restaurants). Even without the booster, Evolution Hardwax Oils are hard-wearing and low maintenance, usually lasting 5-7 years before a replenishing recoat is required.
- Timber Protection: The treated areas are highly water repellent and resistant to conventional foods and household chemicals.
- Coverage rate: Evolution has extremely high coverage rates – up to 30m²/L depending on application technique.
- Safe: Oxidative drying, cobalt free, free of oximes.
- Areas of use: All high traffic interior surfaces, such as timber floors, cork, OSB boards, glued timber, countertops, and furniture. Even in damp areas such as bathrooms and kitchens. Suitable for kindergartens, schools, nursing homes, etc.
ProSelect Water-Based Polyurethane
A well developed and robust two-pot water-based polyurethane produced by Resene Paints. We were involved with the trials while Resene developed this product. Testing shows it is as robust as traditional moisture-cured (solvent-based) polyurethane. Available as matt, satin and gloss.
