Recycled uplifted Matai, 135mm x 20mm
The previous owners of our client’s house had installed particleboard when extending the house. Our brief was to remove the particleboard and replace it with recycled Matai floor boards.
The recycled Matai floor boards were recovered from the Storage King building on Thorndon Quay, which we understand was a wool store some 100 years ago. The new owner of the Storage King building was removing the floors and adding new floors with a lower stud height, thus increasing the overall floor area. A win for us as we were able to recycle the Matai floor boards, and the joists and bearers too.
The floor was finished with a flooring wax.
Our clients wanted an authentic match to the existing floor. Previously the particleboard floor gave away the fact that the cottage had been subject to an earlier extension. With the Matai floor completed the cottage looked complete.
