A bit about us at James Henry.
Sustainability is one of our core values and the business was set up to avoid large volumes of beautiful centuries old timber being cut up for firewood or being crushed and dumped to landfill.
We source recycled timbers from both New Zealand and other countries, as well as sustainability harvested timber from New Zealand other countries. This can include sourcing from dead-standing trees and recovered logs, as well as from properly approved sustainable harvesting plans. We avoid timber from countries that have questionable back stories.
We have won awards for our sustainable practices.
James Henry commenced in 2006 and we have since grown to have 22 permanent staff. We operate in two business streams, the ‘Factory’ business includes all timber purchases, remanufacturing and warehousing activities and sells timber and flooring to either our installation business or directly to homeowners, other installers, builders and commercial customers. The ‘Installation’ business covers all design, supply, installation, sanding and coating work for our customers
What our customers say about us..
The James Henry team matched our floor boards nicely. They did an excellent job at repairing our broken and rotten floor boards in our bathroom. We had a long strip of chip board that they replaced with a beautiful piece of matai that fits perfectly and snug. Excellent craftsmanship with great communication.
If I could give James Henry 10 stars here I would. Exceptional quality of workmanship and huge attention to detail we are truly rapt with what they have done for us – floors and ceilings. Everyone on the team is professional and friendly to deal with and all are true to their word. Truly a standout team that I can’t recommend highly enough.
Friendly staff, excellent quality and good pricing, highly recommend.
A family member recommended James Henry for floor repair, so I was fortunate enough to see their expert craftsmanship and finishing before contacting them.
Our 60-year-old wooden floor was looking worse for wear, especially after removing the fireplace some years ago. The concrete under the hearth needed removing and then that area repaired. Alongside that there were some fairly deep scratches, and many holes from previous owners.
To look at it now, you wouldn’t realise a repair was made, and there are no more drafty holes!
The service and communication were excellent, the site was left clean & tidy at the end of each day. The timeline was clearly communicated, and they were flexible within my requirements too.
The information provided prior to the work was clear and answered most of my questions.
Highly recommend James Henry for wooden floor repairs. Thank you so much!
Thanks Chris for recommending getting our matai kitchen and bathroom floors oiled after previously being coated in polyurethane. Your workers Israel and Isaac did a fantastic job and took great care with our existing kitchen cabinetry. The oiled floor boards makes them look brilliant, it truly brings out the wood grain and has made the floors a much more lovely feature of our house (honestly far nicer than polyurethane as a finish). We also really enjoyed the professionalism of your workers, who worked with and around us for timings of coatings. We would highly recommend your business to anyone. All the best. Gabrielle ☺
We are absolutely thrilled with the flooring. A shout out to the chaps doing the job; knew their job, polite and above all professional. It has been an excellent experience for us.
Many thanks to your team,
Regards
John and Lynn Bushell
Excellent experience. All the staff were extremely professional in the tasks they carried out. Above all I was impressed with their helpfulness and their ability to answer my questions patiently and thoroughly. They took time out to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. Work like this does cause some upheaval but that upheaval was made much better by the professionalism and skill of your workers. James Henry has some remarkably talented people working for it who have combined to create a beautiful living space for us that is exactly what we wanted. Barry, Ngaio
James Henry delivered an exceptional project both in terms of service and quality of craftmanship. From Adrian’s overall guidance and management, re-organising timeframes and keeping engaged throughout lockdown, to Kurt and his incredible knowledge and passion for his craft, to Izzy and Finley for bringing my sad old Matai floors back to life and so full of character, and and to Jason and Scott for their care and good humour with my furniture; all were a pleasure to work with.
From the first day of sanding, I knew that the floors were going to look amazing. Retuning to the finished water-based polyurethane sheen exceeded my expectations.
While this was only a small project, to me it was a major undertaking. All the team were courteous, informative, cordial and considerate.
I now have the most beautiful floors and a far greater knowledge of timber. My thanks to you all.
We love the recycled rimu floor supplied by James Henry. It has added real warmth and character to our new build, and the team were friendly and obliging. Would definitely use them again.
We have just had our recycled native timber floor installed by James Henry Flooring and can not believe how beautiful the floors are looking. The team who came on site here to do each stage of the flooring were lovely to interact with and the work they have done at our place we feel is exceptional.
We converted a bedroom into a bathroom which involved ripping up the old Matai floor to get all the plumbing in. The old floor was unusable subsequently so we sourced replacement timber overlay floors from James Henry with the install being done by ourselves. Great service, prices and delivery.
James Henry Ltd gave us really honest feedback on our floors and the risks posed by re-sanding a floor that hadn’t been well maintained by previous owners. I want to express my gratitude to Chris for not taking us for a ride and leaving us with a pretty floor that would cause us practical issues in the future.
Our overriding aim is to ensure our customers get a beautiful classic floor.
